The Kraken goes to Tipton Iowa for Hardacre Film Festival


Hello Tipton, Iowa!

The residents of Tipton, Ia got a blast of public art fun on Friday morning, August 5th,  when they went downtown at the Kraken of dawn for Tipton’s Ridiculous Days!   (If YOU are from Tipton, welcome to my website and a warm hello from me!)

It turns out there are some good reasons why people are going downtown in Tipton today and tomorrow.   Ridiculous Days (city wide sidewalk shopping sales that start EARLY),  family activities and live music in the park, and of course the Hardacre Film Festival.

I hear there is an outdoor movie showing on Friday night, about 9:40…could be good!      See the description and full lineup on the Hardacre Film Festival schedule.

Whether you’re from Tipton or just passing by, you can’t miss me if you drive through the heart of town  –  I’ll be at the corner of Cedar and 5th Streets watching over the festivities all day long.

The Kraken in the 4th of July Parade!

Note: I’ll be hiding out in my watery lair during the week after the 4th of July parade…but don’t worry, I will emerge again!  People on my email list will get a notice as soon as I reappear!

Howdy!

Recently I joined Muscatine for the 4th of July parade, where I appeared live and in monster in front of an excited public.  It was exhausting, but luckily Muscatine Search and Rescue let me borrow their boat.  Thanks guys!

Here’s your proof…

I begin my journey down 5th Avenue, where the audience eagerly awaits my arrival.  (Aint I modest?)  Thanks to Ethan Anderson for the photo.

Sara Thomas catches me right around the corner.  I saw her there so I decided to wave!

Rawr! I look quite menacing from so far away.  Jami Renae Garmon-Alexander, thanks for making me look so ferocious!

I’d like to thank everyone for coming to see me!  So often I stay stationary, for a Kraken tires easily on land, but it was fun to go out for a leisurely stroll through the lovely streets of Muscatine.

Pearl Button Riverboat – a Kraken goes Cruising

Ordinarily I just scare the passengers and terrorize the crew of these riverboats.  But this one is special – it’s the only currently operating side-wheel paddle boat on the entire Mississippi River.   So I decided to take a cruise…before I get back to scaring riverboat crews into taking up farming.

It was the first cruise of the season for the Pearl Button Paddlewheeler – and the Mad Creek Mudcats came to provide the music.

The Pearl Button Riverboat has cruises every Sunday afternoon.

Right after our cruise I headed to old Hotel Muscatine – where I’ll hang out for a few days.  Have you seen me up there?
